Brazil Agri-Tech SMEs Forge UK Links for Innovation!

This month, Agri-EPI and the Agri-Tech Centres welcomed three Brazilian SMEs for a collaborative market exchange visit to the United Kingdom. The visit, organized in partnership with Embrapa and AgriTIERRA, aimed to provide these SMEs with an immersive experience in the UK agriculture and agri-tech sectors.

The three Brazilian SMEs that participated in the visit were Perfect Flight, Nooa, and GeoApis. Throughout their time in the UK, they had the opportunity to learn about Agri-EPI’s networks and research and development (R&D) opportunities. Additionally, they gained insights into key market challenge areas, business and research ecosystems, farm systems, export market potentials, and facilities that can be utilized to benchmark or validate new market-ready products and services.

Funded by the UK’s department for Science Innovation and Technology, this visit is part of a larger effort to foster regional UK-LATAM agri-tech collaboration and further develop international agri-tech ecosystems. The goal is to facilitate knowledge exchange and create opportunities for collaboration between the UK and Latin American agri-tech sectors.

Rose Judeh-Elwell, Agri-EPI’s Director of Business Development, emphasized the importance of this project in supporting market-ready companies. She stated, “This project is very much about giving market-ready companies the chance to understand what is on offer within these different markets in terms of a soft landing, networks that can facilitate opportunities for them, and an understanding about the challenges being faced on the farm.”

The visit provided the Brazilian SMEs with valuable insights and firsthand experiences of the UK’s agri-tech landscape. By immersing themselves in the UK agriculture sector, they were able to gain a deeper understanding of the market dynamics, challenges, and opportunities. This knowledge will undoubtedly be instrumental in their future endeavors, enabling them to make informed decisions and develop innovative solutions that cater to both the UK and Brazilian markets.

Furthermore, this visit serves as a stepping stone towards stronger collaboration between the UK and Latin American agri-tech sectors. By fostering relationships and sharing expertise, both regions can benefit from each other’s strengths and accelerate the development and adoption of cutting-edge agri-tech solutions. This collaboration is particularly significant as it opens doors for knowledge transfer, technology sharing, and joint research and development initiatives.

The support from the UK’s department for Science Innovation and Technology highlights the government’s commitment to promoting agri-tech innovation and international collaboration. By funding initiatives like this market exchange visit, the UK government is actively supporting the growth of its agri-tech sector and positioning the country as a global leader in agricultural innovation.

In conclusion, the collaborative market exchange visit between Agri-EPI, the Agri-Tech Centres, Embrapa, and AgriTIERRA, along with the participation of three Brazilian SMEs, marks a significant milestone in fostering UK-LATAM agri-tech collaboration. By providing these SMEs with firsthand experiences and insights into the UK agriculture and agri-tech sectors, this visit has laid the foundation for future partnerships and knowledge exchange. With continued support and investment, the potential for innovation and growth in the agri-tech sector is immense, benefiting both the UK and Latin American economies.
