Elicit Plant Unlocks EU Markets with Drought-Fighting Agri-Tech

French agri-biotech startup, Elicit Plant, has achieved a major milestone in its development by obtaining European registration for its EliTerra® technology-driven products. The company has been granted market authorization under the European Regulation 1009-2019 to commercialize two new products in the EU27 countries. This achievement unlocks significant markets for Elicit Plant, as it can now offer its innovative drought stress mitigation products to farmers cultivating cereals and sunflower crops, in addition to its successful launch of Best-A, which controls drought stress in maize.

The European registration allows Elicit Plant to access a potential area of 48 million hectares across the EU27 countries. The company will offer three different products: Best-a for corn, EliGrain-a for straw cereals, and EliSun-a for sunflower. These products have been validated to deliver significant yield increases under drought conditions, providing support to farm economies and helping to mitigate the risks associated with climate change.

Water scarcity is a direct consequence of climate change, and it has a detrimental impact on growers’ incomes. By offering effective solutions for reducing water stress in broad-acre crops, Elicit Plant’s products enable farmers to maintain their income levels despite climatic uncertainties. Jean-François Déchant, co-founder and CEO of Elicit Plant, highlights the importance of these solutions in light of climate change, stating, “We are therefore very pleased to see our solutions now accessible to a greater number of farmers across Europe.”

The performance of Elicit Plant’s products has been impressive, with average yield gains of over 10% and additional yields exceeding two tons in optimal conditions. Each product has a unique mode of action that ensures consistent and reliable performance in broad-acre crops. This reliability is crucial for farmers who rely on high yields to sustain their livelihoods.

Elicit Plant aims to address the global challenges posed by climate change on large-scale crops and become a leader in the ecological transition for agriculture. Its proprietary technology, EliTerra®, is based on the application of phytosterols, plant-derived molecules that enhance plant stress resistance by eliciting their natural defenses. Extensive field trials conducted across three continents have demonstrated that Elicit Plant’s biosolutions from the EliTerra® Platform deliver an average increase in productivity of 12%.

The European registration of Elicit Plant’s products signifies a significant step forward for the company and the agricultural industry as a whole. By providing farmers with effective tools to mitigate the impacts of climate change, Elicit Plant is contributing to the sustainability and resilience of the agricultural sector. The accessibility of these products in major European markets will empower farmers to maintain their income levels and ensure food security in the face of changing climatic conditions.

With the demand for innovative and sustainable agricultural solutions on the rise, Elicit Plant is well-positioned to make a positive impact on the industry. As the company continues to expand its presence in Europe, Brazil, and Ukraine, it is poised to play a crucial role in the ecological transition for agriculture and help farmers navigate the challenges of climate change.
