UK-LATAM Agri-Tech Exchange Fuels Global Innovation Surge

Agri-EPI and the Agri-Tech Centres recently welcomed three Brazilian SMEs, Perfect Flight, Nooa, and GeoApis, for a collaborative market exchange visit to the United Kingdom. In partnership with Embrapa and AgriTIERRA, the visit aimed to foster collaboration between the UK and Latin American (LATAM) agri-tech sectors.

During their visit, the Brazilian SMEs had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the UK agriculture and agri-tech sectors. They learned about Agri-EPI’s networks and research and development (R&D) opportunities, as well as key market challenges and business and research ecosystems. The visit also focused on farm systems, export market potentials, and facilities in the UK that can be used to benchmark or validate new market-ready products and services.

Funded by the UK’s Department for Science Innovation and Technology, this visit is part of a larger effort to promote regional UK-LATAM agri-tech collaboration and further develop international agri-tech ecosystems. The aim is to facilitate knowledge exchange and create opportunities for market-ready companies in both regions.

Rose Judeh-Elwell, Agri-EPI’s Director of Business Development, emphasized the importance of this project in helping market-ready companies understand the opportunities and challenges in different markets. By providing a soft landing and facilitating networks, the project aims to support these companies in expanding their operations and finding solutions to the challenges faced by farmers.

The collaboration between Agri-EPI, the Agri-Tech Centres, Embrapa, and AgriTIERRA is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it enables knowledge sharing and collaboration between the UK and Latin American agri-tech sectors, which can lead to the development of innovative solutions for the global agricultural industry. By bringing together companies from different regions, this collaboration can foster the exchange of ideas and best practices, ultimately benefiting farmers and the wider agricultural community.

Secondly, this visit highlights the UK’s commitment to supporting the growth of the agri-tech sector. By funding initiatives like this, the UK government is actively promoting innovation and collaboration in the agricultural industry. This not only strengthens the UK’s position as a global leader in agri-tech but also creates opportunities for UK companies to expand their reach and explore new markets.

Lastly, this visit underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by the agricultural industry. By bringing together companies from different countries, this exchange visit allows for a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by farmers in different regions. This knowledge can then be used to develop targeted solutions that are tailored to specific agricultural contexts, ultimately improving productivity and sustainability.

Overall, the collaborative market exchange visit between Agri-EPI, the Agri-Tech Centres, Embrapa, AgriTIERRA, and the Brazilian SMEs is a significant step towards fostering international collaboration in the agri-tech sector. By facilitating knowledge exchange and creating opportunities for market-ready companies, this project has the potential to drive innovation and address the challenges faced by farmers worldwide.
