Carbon Robotics has unveiled the latest innovation in agricultural technology with the introduction of the Track LaserWeeder, a groundbreaking model set to revolutionize weed management in diverse soil types. This new addition to the Carbon Robotics family comes equipped with a custom track system developed in partnership with Soucy and GK Machine, designed to enhance the LaserWeeder’s adaptability across various soil conditions, including notoriously challenging muck soil.
The Track LaserWeeder’s custom tracks play a pivotal role in optimizing performance by evenly distributing the machine’s weight, effectively minimizing soil compaction. This innovative feature enables the Track LaserWeeder to navigate fields earlier in the season, overcoming obstacles posed by adverse conditions. By improving ground pressure to 6.5 p.s.i. and accommodating row spacing ranging from 64” to 90”, the Track LaserWeeder empowers growers in muck regions to leverage this technology as a viable alternative to manual weeding or herbicide application.
John Mey, Vice President of Product at Carbon Robotics, emphasized the significance of the custom tracks in expanding the versatility of the LaserWeeder, stating, “Custom tracks extend the versatility and flexibility of the LaserWeeder and open up laserweeding to more regions and farms with varying soil types.” Mey highlighted the transformative impact of the Track LaserWeeder, enabling growers to achieve the labor-intensive tasks of a 75-person hand weeding crew while reaping the production benefits associated with minimal soil disruption.
In addition to the Track LaserWeeder’s advanced capabilities, Carbon Robotics introduced two software enhancements aimed at optimizing user experience and operational efficiency. The integration of spatial data intelligence within the Carbon Ops Center empowers growers with visualized data insights, including critical metrics such as stand count, density, weed type, average size, and distribution. This data-driven approach equips growers with the tools to identify and address inconsistencies in real-time, enhancing decision-making processes from planting to harvest.
Furthermore, Carbon Robotics has enhanced the user interface of its iPad operator app by incorporating multi-language support, offering compatibility with seven additional languages. This strategic enhancement ensures seamless communication between field operators and the Carbon Robotics platform, effectively bridging language barriers and facilitating efficient utilization of the app’s features and alerts.
With the first batch of Track LaserWeeders set for delivery in March 2024, Carbon Robotics is poised to redefine weed management practices and empower growers with cutting-edge solutions tailored to meet the evolving demands of modern agriculture. The introduction of the Track LaserWeeder and software enhancements underscores Carbon Robotics’ commitment to innovation and sustainability, ushering in a new era of precision agriculture with far-reaching implications for the industry.
