Dyson Farming and xFarm Launch Major Digital Transformation Project

xFarm Technologies and Dyson Farming have embarked on a groundbreaking three-year project aimed at digitising over 33,600 acres of farmland across the UK. This ambitious initiative, announced during the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in London, represents a significant step forward in the use of technology to enhance efficiency and sustainability in agriculture.

xFarm Technologies, a leading pan-European tech company dedicated to the digitisation of the agri-food sector, is set to implement a highly customised platform tailored specifically for Dyson Farming. This platform will serve as a comprehensive tool for data collection and management, streamlining operations and improving record-keeping practices. With a focus on sustainability and technology-led innovation, Dyson Farming is already well-established as one of the UK’s largest farming enterprises, managing extensive farmland across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Somerset, and Gloucestershire.

The project is particularly noteworthy for its scale. Dyson Farming has already registered nearly 1,000 fields and 3,700 acres of environmental features on the new platform, alongside more than 100 warehouses and a fleet of over 250 machines. This level of detail not only facilitates better management of resources but also enhances the traceability of agricultural products, a growing concern among consumers who are increasingly interested in the origins of their food.

Matteo Vanotti, CEO of xFarm Technologies, expressed pride in partnering with Dyson Farming, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and efficiency. He emphasised the complexity of modern farming operations, noting that the integration of innovative technologies can significantly ease the management process. Ben Abell, Head of Agronomy at Dyson Farming, further elaborated on the benefits of the new platform. With xFarm’s implementation, the farming operation will gain enhanced traceability for its products. This means that consumers will be able to trace every grain, root, or berry of the 100,000 tonnes of food produced annually back to its original source. Such transparency not only builds consumer trust but also allows Dyson Farming to showcase its commitment to environmental improvements throughout the production process.

The project officially commenced in August, with a go-live date set for mid-September. It will involve a dedicated team of 70 Dyson Farming operators and three teams from xFarm Technologies, working collaboratively to ensure the successful rollout of the platform.
