Hylio has unveiled its latest innovation in agricultural technology, the HYL-150 ARES, a state-of-the-art autonomous crop-treatment drone tailored for heavy use by ag-drone operators. This new model, proudly manufactured in Texas with both U.S. and global components, stands out for its compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), ensuring it meets stringent safety and security standards.
The HYL-150 ARES is engineered to handle substantial payloads, boasting a liquid application capacity of 110 pounds or 13 gallons. It can efficiently cover a swath width of up to 40 feet, enabling operators to treat up to 50 acres per hour at a rate of 2 gallons per acre. When deployed in swarms of two or more, these drones can collectively treat or seed thousands of acres in a single day, transforming the efficiency of agricultural operations. For solid products or seeds, the HYL-150 can manage an impressive 120 acres per hour at a 20 pounds per acre application rate.
One of the standout features of the HYL-150 ARES is its flexibility in application methods. The drone can utilize configurable hydraulic nozzles, rotary atomizers, or a rotary spreader device, all of which are easily interchangeable, allowing operators to adapt to various treatment needs. Moreover, the drone can operate in both fully autonomous and manual modes, giving users the ability to program treatment maps with Hylio’s proprietary AgroSol Ground Control Software. This intuitive software interface allows operators to delineate treatment areas, mark obstacles, and set specific treatment parameters, streamlining the planning and execution process.
The integration of Hylio Groundlink, a proprietary ground station solution, enhances operational efficiency further. Featuring an integrated Windows tablet and remote control, users can effortlessly switch between autonomous and manual controls, whether managing one drone or a fleet. The system’s array of sensors provides real-time data on critical flight parameters, including GPS position and flow rate, while all flight and treatment data are securely stored in user accounts for easy access to as-applied maps and maintenance records.
Powering the HYL-150 ARES are Hylio’s rugged 18S30Ah LiPo batteries, designed for outdoor use and rapid charging. With a convenient blade connector and a secure locking mechanism, battery swaps are quick and efficient, allowing for minimal downtime. The accompanying dual-channel charger can recharge two batteries in about 20-25 minutes, or one in just 10-12 minutes, significantly boosting productivity during busy agricultural seasons.
The introduction of the HYL-150 ARES is poised to revolutionize crop treatment methodologies, providing farmers with a powerful tool to enhance efficiency and productivity in their operations. As the agricultural sector increasingly embraces automation and advanced technology, Hylio’s latest offering represents a significant step forward in the quest for sustainable and effective farming practices.
