The North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA) has announced significant leadership transitions as two long-standing figures in the organization prepare to close a pivotal chapter in their careers. Gary Manke, who has dedicated nearly five decades to NAEDA and its predecessor organizations, is retiring, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy and collaboration that has profoundly shaped the equipment dealership landscape. Manke’s tenure, spanning 49 years, included a vital role as Executive Vice President/CEO of the Midwest SouthEastern Equipment Dealers Association, and most recently, as NAEDA’s Senior Vice President of Manufacturer Relations. His strategic vision and commitment to dealer interests have fostered an environment of growth and sustainability within the industry.
Kim Rominger, CEO of NAEDA, expressed deep gratitude for Manke’s contributions, highlighting the respect he garnered among colleagues and industry stakeholders. “Gary Manke’s leadership has been a defining force at NAEDA for many years,” Rominger stated, emphasizing the impact of Manke’s work on both the association and the broader equipment dealership community. In tandem with Manke’s retirement, John Schmeiser is stepping into a new role after serving as NAEDA’s Chief Operating Officer. With over 30 years of experience in the equipment industry, Schmeiser has previously held leadership positions with the Canada West Equipment Dealers Association and the Western Equipment Dealers Association. His extensive background in consolidating equipment dealer associations has been instrumental in strengthening NAEDA’s influence in government affairs and manufacturer relations across North America.
Schmeiser will take on the role of NAEDA’s Brand Ambassador, where he will utilize his industry knowledge to advocate for the association and its members. Rominger expressed excitement about Schmeiser’s new responsibilities, noting that his dedication to advancing dealer interests will be invaluable as NAEDA continues to navigate the complexities of the equipment dealership sector.
