The United Nations has taken a significant step towards addressing global food security challenges by launching a groundbreaking publication titled “Leveraging Space Technology for Agricultural Development and Food Security.” This collaborative effort between the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) comes at a critical time, as the world’s population continues to grow, surpassing eight billion in 2022. The report was unveiled during the sixty-second session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) in Vienna.
