Drones Take Flight in Jammu: Revolutionizing Farming with Precision Fertilizer Spraying

In the heart of Jammu, a significant stride towards modernising agriculture was taken today as a drone technology demonstration for foliar spraying of fertilisers unfolded in Khour village, Zone Kirpind, RS Pura. The event, attended by MLA Suchetgarh, Gharu Ram Bhagat, and the Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, along with a multitude of farmers and agriculture officials, showcased the transformative potential of drones in farming.

The demonstration highlighted how drones can revolutionise the agricultural landscape by ensuring precise and uniform application of fertilisers. This not only reduces manual labour but also minimises wastage and boosts crop productivity. Among the fertilisers used were Nano Urea, known for enhancing nitrogen use efficiency, and Sagrika, a growth-promoting bio-fertiliser. These advanced fertilisers, when combined with drone technology, promise to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of farming practices.

MLA Gharu Ram Bhagat expressed his enthusiasm for the adoption of advanced farming techniques, stating, “It is heartening to see technology reaching our farmers. Drone-based fertiliser spraying will reduce costs, improve efficiency, and help increase yields. This is a step towards a more sustainable and profitable agricultural sector.” His words echoed the sentiments of many present, who saw the potential of this technology to transform traditional farming methods.

Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, further elaborated on the game-changing impact of drone technology. He emphasised that this innovation will enable farmers to apply fertilisers with greater precision, reducing labour dependency while maximising efficiency. “Integrating technology into agriculture is key to ensuring food security and enhancing farmers’ income. The demonstration underscored the growing role of technology in overcoming traditional farming challenges and signalled a strong commitment to promoting smart and sustainable agricultural practices in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The event in Khour village is more than just a demonstration; it is a beacon of hope for farmers in the region. It signifies a shift towards a future where technology and agriculture go hand in hand, paving the way for a more efficient, sustainable, and profitable farming sector. As the region embraces these advancements, it is poised to lead the way in modernising agriculture, setting a benchmark for other regions to follow.
