Stay Informed: NALC Launches Free Agricultural Law Newsletter

In the ever-evolving landscape of agriculture, staying informed about legal and policy developments is crucial for professionals across the industry. The National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) has stepped up to meet this need with a new digital resource called The Feed. Launched in January 2023, The Feed is a free, user-friendly newsletter that delivers the latest agricultural law and policy updates directly to subscribers’ inboxes every two weeks.

The Feed is more than just a newsletter; it’s a comprehensive resource that covers a wide range of topics, from foreign ownership updates to pesticide regulations, water law, and Supreme Court rulings. “We cover what is going on in the agricultural community,” said Harrison Pittman, NALC Director. “It’s written to be utilized by a wide variety of our stakeholders, not only attorneys.”

The Feed is written by NALC research attorneys, who work diligently to bring the latest developments to each issue. The newsletter is designed to be easily accessible, with succinct summaries and links to additional resources, such as NALC factsheets and webinars. This makes it an invaluable tool for producers, researchers, trade associations, students, attorneys, and many more.

The Feed has quickly gained traction, with several thousand subscribers throughout the U.S. “It’s a way for us to better inform our stakeholders and make it as easy as possible for them to keep up to date,” Pittman said. “We know folks are pretty busy, so we do our best to deliver information in a succinct and easily accessible way.”

The positive feedback from subscribers underscores the value of The Feed. Steve Bruere, President of Peoples Company, praised the newsletter, saying, “The National Agricultural Law Center team does a terrific job compiling the latest agricultural law and policy developments into a concise read. It’s very informative for the Peoples Company and our affiliates.” Ted McKinney, CEO of NASDA, echoed this sentiment, calling The Feed “an excellent and timely way to stay abreast of legal and policy changes.”

The Feed is sponsored by its Founding Supporters: American Farm Bureau Federation, NASDA Foundation, and Downey Brand. These organizations recognize the importance of keeping the agricultural community informed and engaged.

In addition to The Feed, the NALC and the NASDA Foundation are hosting two upcoming conferences: the 12th Mid-South Agricultural and Environmental Law Conference on June 5-6 in Memphis, Tennessee, and the 3rd Western Water, Agricultural, and Environmental Law Conference on June 19-20 in Reno, Nevada. These conferences offer educational opportunities, networking, and continuing education credits for attendees. The Mid-South program features a bonus online “Early Bird” event on May 14 for those who register by May 13.

For those interested in staying informed about agricultural law and policy, The Feed is an essential resource. Subscribers can expect timely, relevant updates delivered straight to their inboxes, making it easier than ever to stay current in the fast-paced world of agricultural law and policy.
