Vietnam, Israel Strengthen Ties with Avocado Success

In a significant move to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster economic cooperation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Ly Duc Trung took to the airwaves of Israel’s FM 100 radio on March 14. The live broadcast served as a platform for Ambassador Trung to introduce Vietnam, its people, and the burgeoning cooperative relations between the two nations.

During the engaging conversation, Ambassador Trung painted a vivid picture of Vietnam’s remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent years. He highlighted the country’s diverse natural landscapes, friendly and hospitable people, and rich culture and cuisine, which have collectively made Vietnam an increasingly popular travel destination for Israeli holidaymakers.

The ambassador also shed light on the key milestones in the bilateral relationship, with a particular focus on the economic and trade sectors. A standout achievement is the bilateral free trade agreement, which came into effect in 2024. This agreement has been instrumental in reducing tariffs on hundreds of imported and exported items, thereby boosting bilateral trade turnover to an impressive 3 billion USD.

Ambassador Trung emphasized the tremendous potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Israel in various sectors, including construction, agriculture, technology transfer, and particularly in the realm of creative startups. To illustrate this potential, he brought a unique example to the studio: avocados. These fruits, cultivated in Vietnam using Israeli varieties and care methods, have shown very good initial yields and economic efficiency. This example underscores the successful collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two countries, paving the way for future agricultural ventures.

The live broadcast not only served as an educational platform for Israeli listeners but also as a testament to the growing friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Israel. As both nations continue to explore new avenues for collaboration, the future looks promising for enhanced trade, cultural exchange, and technological advancements.
