The National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) and the NASDA Foundation are set to co-host two significant conferences this year, offering a wealth of knowledge and networking opportunities for professionals across various sectors. The 12th Annual Mid-South Agricultural and Environmental Law Conference and the 3rd Annual Western Water, Agricultural and Environmental Law Conference are designed to cater to a diverse audience, from students and farmers to attorneys and policymakers.
These conferences, held in Memphis, Tennessee, and Reno, Nevada, respectively, will provide both in-person and livestream options, ensuring accessibility for attendees nationwide. The events are more than just educational platforms; they are premier networking opportunities that bring together individuals from all corners of the agricultural industry.
Harrison Pittman, Director of the NALC, emphasized the importance of these gatherings. “These conferences are premiere educational and networking opportunities,” he said. “They bring together folks from across the ag industry and nation.” The collaboration with the NASDA Foundation, a longtime partner of the NALC, is seen as a natural fit, further enhancing the value of these conferences.
The Mid-South Conference, scheduled for June 5-6, will kick off with a “Beer & BBQ” event at the iconic Charlie Vergos Rendezvous in Memphis. The main program will follow on June 6 at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. An online “Early Bird” bonus CLE/Ce session will be available for those who register by May 13. The conference aims to foster dialogue about the range of agricultural, food, and environmental law issues impacting the Mid-South agricultural community.
Meanwhile, the Western Conference, taking place June 19-20 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino in Reno, will focus on legal and policy issues relevant to the agriculture and food industry in Western states. A networking reception will be held after the first day’s sessions, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect and discuss the day’s insights.
Both conferences offer continuing legal education credit, as well as continuing education from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, making them invaluable for professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and credentials.
Past attendees have praised the conferences for their high-quality content and expert speakers. One Mid-South attendee noted, “It brings a variety of issues to the table which are presented by top-quality experts. I learn something interesting and useful every year I attend.” Similarly, a Western attendee commented, “I enjoyed this conference greatly. I look forward to more and am interested in participating in future events.”
The conferences are not just about learning; they are about building a community. As Pittman put it, “It’s a natural collaboration for us and a great way to continue growing both of these conferences.” Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of agricultural law, network with industry professionals, or simply stay updated on the latest trends and issues, these conferences promise to deliver on all fronts.
