At the 2025 Spray Drone End User Conference, hosted by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Auburn University, DJI wrapped up a week of insightful discussions and demonstrations, leaving attendees buzzing with the potential of spray drone technology in American agriculture. The event served as a platform for DJI Agriculture to share its vision for the future of precision farming, with a particular focus on the U.S. market.
Niki Shen, Head of Marketing for DJI Agriculture, took the stage to deliver a keynote speech that underscored the company’s commitment to advancing the American agricultural industry. Shen highlighted DJI’s ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of precision farming, emphasizing the company’s dedication to the U.S. market. “With each new addition to the DJI Agras line, we aim to increase their payload capacity, improve their performance and application precision, add safety features, and expand their capabilities to treat different crops—all at an accessible price point,” Shen stated.
DJI’s journey in agricultural drones began in 2012, driven by a mission to help farmers save water and improve yields. Since the launch of the first Agras drone in 2015, DJI has seen remarkable growth. Today, over 400,000 agriculture drones have been deployed globally, treating more than 300 types of crops across more than 100 countries and regions. This widespread adoption is a testament to the technology’s effectiveness and the growing demand for innovative solutions in agriculture.
The maturation of the spray drone industry has opened up new avenues for economic growth and job creation. Globally, there are now more than 400,000 spray drone operators, supported by an extensive network of partners who train, service, and sell products to these operators. In the United States, DJI’s network of partners has seen a staggering 200% growth from 2023 to 2024, translating to thousands of newly created jobs within the spray drone ecosystem. This expansion not only boosts the economy but also fosters a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of modern agriculture.
One of the most significant announcements from the conference was DJI Agriculture’s new pricing strategy, aimed at making agriculture drones more accessible in the U.S. Effective March 26, the new pricing for the DJI Agras T50 and T25 will be available through authorized DJI Agriculture dealers. This strategic move is expected to democratize access to advanced farming technology, enabling more farmers to adopt spray drones and reap their benefits.
The implications of these developments are far-reaching. As spray drone technology becomes more accessible and integrated into farming practices, we can expect to see increased efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and improved crop yields. The growth of the spray drone ecosystem also means more opportunities for training, servicing, and innovation, further driving economic growth and job creation in the agricultural sector. For farmers, this translates to better tools for managing their operations, ultimately leading to more sustainable and profitable farming practices.
