ODOS Secures €680k to Revolutionize Agri-Food Sustainability

Valencia-based AgriTech startup ODOS has secured €680k in funding to bolster its technological capabilities and expand into new markets. The investment round was led by Spain’s prominent dairy cooperative CAPSA FOOD, with additional support from Mercadona via Angels Capital and Tech Transfer Agrifood Oficial by CLAVE, a fund backed by agri-food companies. This financial backing underscores the growing recognition of ODOS’s mission to drive climate action within the agri-food sector.

Founded in 2020 by Alejandro Vergara and Cian White, ODOS is a spin-out company from University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin. The startup’s diverse team, comprising 11 members from nine different nationalities, reflects the global significance of its mission. ODOS aims to transform the agri-food sector by simplifying data collection and providing profitable strategies for companies to reduce their environmental impact without compromising productivity.

The core of ODOS’s offering is the Mitigation Toolbox, a digital platform designed to help organizations transition from merely measuring their environmental impact to actively reducing it. This platform enables users to plan and implement farm-level and supply chain decarbonisation strategies across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. By modelling the cost-effectiveness of incentive programs and tracking real-time adoption, the platform supports data-driven decision-making and on-the-ground verification. Aligned with leading sustainability frameworks like CSRD and SBTi, it facilitates both carbon insetting and operational efficiency improvements to support meaningful progress toward Net Zero goals.

The implications of this funding round are significant. The entry of Angels, CAPSA Food, and TTAF by CLAVE into ODOS’s capital not only strengthens its business model but also validates its growth potential. This investment paves the way for initial deals and underscores the increasing importance of technological innovation in achieving environmental sustainability within the agri-food sector.

Alejandro Vergara, CEO and Co-founder of ODOS, emphasized the importance of this investment: “The trust our investors place in our mission and management gives us the strength to scale our impact. With agriculture responsible for nearly 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, transforming this sector is one of the most powerful ways to tackle climate change. We are here to help agri-food players comply and thrive with clarity, simplicity, and real results on the ground.”

Pepe Peris, Managing Director at Angels, highlighted ODOS’s practical and transformative approach: “Alejandro has spent many years focused on delivering a solution that is effective, measurable, and scalable for his clients. ODOS provides technology and strategy so companies can make decisions that truly reduce their environmental impact.”

Rubén Hidalgo, Open Innovation Director at CAPSA Food, added: “With the tailored project at Cian, Alejandro and his team ensure our dual objective: to back talented entrepreneurial teams and to strengthen the dairy sector through technology and innovation, achieving greater environmental, social, and economic sustainability for our industry.”

Currently supported by the Spanish accelerator Lanzadera, ODOS is developing technology that enables cooperatives and farmers to measure, report, and verify their environmental impact. This aligns with growing climate and regulatory demands, positioning ODOS as a key player in the agri-food sector’s transformation.
