The event served as a knowledge-driven platform, showcasing the efforts of Unati Agri Allied Cooperative and the Science & Technology Department. Expert sessions covered a range of topics, including organic farming, regenerative practices, biotechnology, and precision agriculture. Demonstrations on the use of solar and renewable energy in farming, particularly initiatives under the KUSUM scheme, were also conducted.
Awareness sessions on government-supported schemes to promote agri-entrepreneurship and aroma cultivation were held, emphasizing the integration of youth and startups into the agricultural innovation ecosystem. This focus on youth and startups is crucial, as it encourages the next generation to engage with agriculture, bringing fresh ideas and technological prowess to the sector.
The implications of this event are significant. By promoting scientific interventions and technological integration, the agricultural sector in Jammu and Kashmir can become more resilient to climate change, more efficient in resource use, and more profitable for farmers. The emphasis on renewable energy solutions can lead to a reduction in the carbon footprint of agriculture, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Moreover, the focus on agri-entrepreneurship and the integration of youth and startups can lead to job creation and economic growth. It can also foster a culture of innovation, where new ideas and technologies are continuously developed and implemented, keeping the sector dynamic and competitive.
The government’s commitment to supporting such initiatives through greater outreach, funding, and policy facilitation is a positive sign. It indicates a recognition of the potential of scientific innovation and technology in transforming agriculture and a willingness to invest in this potential. As these efforts continue, the agricultural sector in Jammu and Kashmir can look forward to a future that is not only sustainable but also prosperous.
