AGCO Appoints Brian Sorbe to Lead PTx Precision Agriculture Division

AGCO, a prominent player in the agricultural technology sector, has announced the appointment of Brian Sorbe as President of PTx, effective August 25, 2025. Sorbe’s extensive experience in precision agriculture, global sales, and product development positions him as a strategic leader for AGCO’s precision agriculture technologies.

Sorbe’s career spans nearly three decades, with a significant portion dedicated to Topcon Positioning Systems. During his 14-year tenure, he held key leadership roles, including Senior Vice President and General Manager. His responsibilities encompassed technology development for mixed fleets, product strategy, marketing, and M&A integration. Sorbe’s focus on farmer-centric solutions has been a consistent theme throughout his career.

Prior to his time at Topcon, Sorbe’s roots in agriculture trace back to Ag-Chem Equipment in Jackson, Minnesota, a company that became part of AGCO following its acquisition in 2001. His background also includes experience in construction and industrial automation, but his passion for agriculture has remained central. Sorbe’s educational credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Purdue University system, along with postgraduate certifications in AI & Machine Learning, Agricultural Autonomy & Robotics, and an MBA program.

Eric Hansotia, Chairman, President, and CEO of AGCO, expressed enthusiasm about Sorbe’s appointment. “His passion for agriculture and ability to inspire teams will accelerate the momentum building in our entire PTx organization through a focus on retrofit innovation and farmer education,” Hansotia stated. Sorbe’s expertise in channel development and managing complex technology platforms is expected to significantly benefit AGCO’s precision agriculture initiatives.

One of the key goals under Sorbe’s leadership will be to achieve $2 billion in precision ag sales by 2029. This ambitious target underscores AGCO’s commitment to becoming a trusted partner for industry-leading, smart farming solutions. Sorbe’s appointment is seen as a pivotal step in advancing AGCO’s vision for the future of agriculture.

Sorbe will be based in Tremont, Illinois, a key site for PTx. His leadership is anticipated to drive innovation and growth in AGCO’s precision agriculture portfolio, ultimately benefiting farmers and the broader agricultural community.
