Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), a leading trade association for the equipment industry, has bolstered its government affairs team with the addition of Matt Lamy as Government Affairs Manager. Based in AED’s Washington, D.C. office, Lamy will be instrumental in shaping and advancing the association’s legislative and regulatory agenda in both the United States and Canada.
Lamy’s role will involve a collaborative effort with Daniel B. Fisher, AED’s Senior Vice President of Government & External Affairs, to champion pro-growth policies that impact the equipment industry. His responsibilities will span engaging with lawmakers and policymakers at both the federal and state levels, coordinating congressional visits for AED members, and fostering direct relationships between members and key officials. This strategic addition to the team underscores AED’s commitment to expanding its advocacy efforts and deepening its engagement with policymakers at all levels of government.
Prior to joining AED, Lamy honed his skills as a Federal Affairs Research Analyst at McAllister & Quinn, where he assisted clients in navigating the federal appropriations process. He also gained valuable experience through a communications and government relations internship with the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA). Lamy’s academic background includes a B.A. in Political Science from Georgia Southern University, which he earned in 2022.
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Lamy stated, “I’m honored to join AED and contribute to its strong reputation as a leading voice for the equipment industry. I look forward to working with our members to ensure their voices are heard in Washington and Ottawa and to help further the association’s mission.”
AED’s presence in Washington, D.C., Ottawa, and Sacramento enables the association to advocate effectively on behalf of its members before key lawmakers and regulators. By maintaining a full-time presence in these locations, AED ensures that the equipment industry’s priorities receive full consideration on both sides of the border. Additionally, AED provides members with access to the most influential decision-makers in North America, fostering an environment where the industry’s voice is heard and its concerns are addressed.
Established in 1919, AED is a not-for-profit international trade association based in Schaumburg, Illinois. The association represents companies involved in the sale, rental, manufacturing, and support of equipment used in various sectors, including construction, agriculture, mining, forestry, power generation, and industrial applications. With the addition of Matt Lamy to its government affairs team, AED is well-positioned to continue its advocacy efforts and support the growth and success of its members in the equipment industry.
