Vietnam’s AgriTech Boom: AI & Data Drive Net-Zero Farming Revolution

Vietnam’s agricultural sector is undergoing a quiet but profound transformation, driven by digital innovation and a growing emphasis on sustainability. At the heart of this shift is AgriS, a key player working alongside the government to build a data-powered agricultural ecosystem that aligns with national development goals—including Resolution 57 on digital transformation and Vietnam’s pledge to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

Dang Huynh Uc My, chairwoman of AgriS and a member of the National Data Association’s executive committee, highlights the critical role of digitalisation and data mining in reshaping agriculture. “These tools are essential for optimising production efficiency, improving supply chain transparency, and supporting policy implementation,” she explains. The company’s strategy revolves around two core pillars: modernising agricultural production through technology and establishing a unified national data framework.

Central to AgriS’s approach is **AgriBrain**, an AI-driven system already operational in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The platform processes real-time data, integrating financial, logistics, and input management to help farmers and businesses make precise decisions—from planting to distribution. Complementing this is **DigiFarm**, a SaaS-based solution that streamlines everything from crop planning to ESG-compliant carbon management. These tools are tested and refined across a network of demo farms in Vietnam, Australia, and Cambodia, with plans to expand into Indonesia and Laos.

The ambition doesn’t stop at digitalisation. AgriS is constructing a **national agricultural data framework**—a secure, AI-enhanced system that standardises data for forecasting, risk assessment, and traceability. This infrastructure is designed to meet international ESG reporting standards, boosting investor confidence and facilitating Vietnam’s integration into global carbon markets.

A key milestone in this journey is AgriS’s partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), signed in May, to align its operations with global sustainability benchmarks. The collaboration underscores the company’s broader goal: creating a traceable, carbon-credit-compliant supply chain that positions Vietnamese agriculture as a competitive force in international markets.

The implications are significant. By digitising 80% of the sector—covering nearly 7 million farming households and over 2,800 enterprises—AgriS aims to lift productivity and quality by 15–20%. More importantly, the initiative supports Vietnam’s climate commitments while enhancing the sector’s resilience and global standing.

As Nguyen Duc Hung Linh, vice president of AgriS’s investment division, notes, the project is a “breakthrough strategy” for Vietnam’s high-tech agricultural future. With cross-border collaborations, including a recent high-tech agriculture conference in Australia, AgriS is not just modernising farming—it’s laying the groundwork for a sustainable, data-driven agricultural economy.
