Farmdroid Unveils Game-Changing Seeding Upgrade at Agritechnica 2025

At the upcoming Agritechnica 2025 trade fair in Hannover, Germany, Danish robot manufacturer Farmdroid is set to unveil a significant upgrade to its field robot lineup. The company will introduce a new seeding element, dubbed the “big brother” by CEO and founder Kristian Warming, which promises to expand the robot’s capabilities and efficiency.

The new seeding box is designed to handle seeds with a diameter of up to 14 mm, a notable increase from the current generation’s 8 mm limit. This enhancement allows the Farmdroid field robot to sow a wider variety of crop types, including maize, peas, beans, chicory, witloof, onions, spinach, and red beet. The versatility of the new seeding elements opens up new possibilities for farmers, enabling them to manage a more diverse range of crops with a single, automated solution.

The seeding elements come equipped with a 7-litre hopper capacity, an adjustable seeding depth ranging from 10 to 50 millimetres, and a row spacing of 25 to 90 cm. These features provide farmers with the flexibility to tailor the seeding process to their specific needs, ensuring optimal growth conditions for different crop types.

In addition to the expanded crop options, the new seeding elements also boost the robot’s overall capacity. The elements have a maximum working speed of 650 m/s, compared to the previous generation’s 550 m/s. According to Farmdroid, this results in a 20% increase in capacity without compromising the robot’s precision. This improvement is a significant step forward in agricultural automation, as it allows farmers to cover more ground in less time while maintaining the accuracy necessary for successful crop cultivation.

One of the standout features of the new seeding elements is their compatibility with older Farmdroid field robots. The manufacturer has designed the elements to be easy to mount on existing robots, making it a cost-effective upgrade for current Farmdroid users. This backward compatibility ensures that farmers who have already invested in Farmdroid’s technology can benefit from the latest advancements without the need for a complete overhaul of their equipment.

The new seeding elements will be showcased to the public for the first time during the Agritechnica trade fair, which runs from 9 to 11 November in Hannover, Germany. This event provides an ideal platform for Farmdroid to demonstrate the capabilities of its latest innovation to a global audience of agricultural professionals. The seeding elements are scheduled to be available for purchase starting from February 2026, giving farmers ample time to plan and budget for this significant upgrade.

The introduction of the new seeding elements underscores Farmdroid’s commitment to innovation and its mission to revolutionize modern farming practices. By expanding the range of crops that can be sown and increasing the robot’s overall efficiency, Farmdroid is empowering farmers to achieve greater productivity and sustainability. As the agricultural industry continues to evolve, the integration of advanced technologies like Farmdroid’s new seeding elements will play a crucial role in shaping the future of farming.
