The “2025 International Agriculture Expo” kicked off on October 23 at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services in Naju, Jeonnam Province, drawing over 380 organizations from 25 countries. The event showcased the latest in agricultural technology, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
Visitors were captivated by the “Agriculture Future Exhibition Hall,” where AI-powered smart farms took center stage. Real-time crop condition analysis through sensors and new climate-resilient crop varieties were among the highlights. The autonomous tractor experience also garnered significant attention, with one farmer remarking, “Now we’re in an era where tractors work on their own.” The “Agricultural Technology Hall” displayed the evolution of agricultural machinery, featuring high-pressure washers, multipurpose machines, and large drones from the Jeonbuk Drone Association.
The Agriculture and Food Hall and Livestock Hall were bustling with activity, featuring products from 18 cities and counties in Jeonnam. Hwasun County’s booth, with its vibrant orange design and promotional staff dressed in dokkaebi costumes, was a standout. Visitors enjoyed trying local delicacies like Dolsan Gat Kimchi, Godeulppaegi, Haenam’s sweet potato and rice bagels, and Wando Bread. The event also highlighted Jeonnam’s unique agricultural products, such as loquat wine, Naju pears, and Shinan’s salt ice cream.
The Business Hall hosted an export consultation event with buyers from 50 companies across 16 countries, aiming to expand K-Agriculture’s global reach. Additionally, the World Food Tech Forum and International Coffee Symposium were scheduled, fostering technological exchange and cooperation.
The “Healing and Wellness Exhibition” provided a relaxing space for urban visitors, featuring the Garden of Abundance, botanical gardens, and hands-on zones for harvesting sweet potatoes and persimmons. The K-Coffee Promotion Hall and Pet Culture Playground also attracted many guests.
Despite the event’s successes, some operational issues were noted. The enclosed outdoor exhibition halls lacked proper airflow, leading to high temperatures and discomfort. Visitors complained about the heat, and some families with children found it difficult to cope. Additionally, portable toilets were opened late and were not properly maintained, causing inconvenience and hygiene concerns.
The “2025 International Agriculture Expo” demonstrated the future potential of agriculture, with AI, drones, autonomous driving technology, and space crop research taking the spotlight. The event underscored the theme “Agriculture Changes the World,” showcasing K-Agriculture’s global ambitions and innovative spirit.
